US Destroys Iranian Fast Boats Following Attack on UAE Fujairah Port

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after the United States attacked fast Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz. This action came as Iran launched attacks on targets in the United Arab Emirates, including a key oil port of Fujairah. The incidents occurred during the early stages of a U.S.-led operation to reopen the vital waterway. President Donald Trump described the effort as “Project Freedom”.

US Strikes on Iranian Navy’s Fast Boats in Strait of Hormuz

President Trump announced that U.S. forces struck seven Iranian “fast boats” in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military confirmed the use of helicopters in the operation.

Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, stated that American forces sank six small Iranian boats. These vessels had targeted civilian ships under U.S. protection. U.S. forces also intercepted missiles and drones, according to officials.

The strikes took place as Washington sought to guide stranded commercial vessels through the strait. Iran had effectively blockaded parts of the waterway following earlier tensions. Two U.S.-flagged merchant ships successfully transited the channel with military escort, shipping sources reported.

Iran Attacks on UAE Fujairah Oil Port

UAE reported Iranian strikes on its territory. Authorities said a drone attack sparked a fire at the oil port of Fujairah. This facility serves as the country’s biggest port and a major oil storage hub.

The incident injured three Indian citizens, according to local reports. The UAE described the attacks as a serious escalation and reserved the right to respond. Saudi Arabia also condemned the Iranian actions against civilian and economic sites in the UAE.

The UAE and South Korea both reported strikes on ships in the strait. Shipping company Maersk confirmed that one of its U.S.-flagged vessels completed a safe transit with U.S. military protection.

It is broadly claimed that Iran wants to convert this dispute into a regional war. And if UAE’s allies like India or Israel comes openly in its defense, then Iran can use this pretense to divide Arab states on the line of religion. So far UAE has shown restrain, but it remain to be seen that how long this calm will last.
