Avengers Endgame Encore Earns $86 Million Globally Ahead of Doomsday

Marvel Studios has topped the global box office with Avengers Endgame Encore this weekend. The re-release of the 2019 film earned an estimated $86 million worldwide. Disney released the Encore cut on September 25, 2026, with some previews a day earlier. The film has arrived in theaters to build hype for Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18, 2026. However, the release has also sparked debate among fans about extra scenes and premium screens.

Endgame Encore Posts Record Re-Release Numbers Worldwide

The re-release has opened with $26 million from approx 3,060 theaters in North America. In addition, it has collected approximately $86 million from international markets. The combined total has placed Encore at No. 1 on both the domestic and global charts. Its being called the second-biggest worldwide re-release opening ever. Only the 2012 re-release of Titanic 3D has posted a bigger global debut.

The film has also lifted Endgame’s lifetime global total to $2.885 billion. That figure keeps it at No. 2 on the all-time chart, about $39 million behind Avatar. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios has now crossed $35.075 billion across its 38 films. Infinity Vision screens have played a big role in the opening weekend. Disney launched Infinity Vision as a new premium large format certification, and Encore is its first release.

New Footage Leaves Some Marvel Fans Frustrated

Encore runs about 3 hours and 5 minutes, roughly 4 to 7 minutes longer than the original. The added material includes deleted scenes and an updated post-credits scenes. Each screening also carries an exclusive look at Avengers: Doomsday. Co-director Anthony Russo has said the team did not want to change the film itself, “We weren’t going to mess with what that movie is,” he told Marvel.com. However, some fans believe the new scenes do alter the feel of the original ending.

Frustration has grown online because one new scene appears only on select premium screens like Infinity Vision, Dolby and IMAX. Fans on social media have voiced their anger since the weekend began. In addition, critics have argued that these changes weaken Steve Rogers’ original farewell. Even so, audiences have kept buying tickets, and India has also posted a notable result. The film has earned about Rs 8 crore on its opening day there. That marks the biggest opening day for a Hollywood re-release in the country.
