US F-15s Downed in Kuwait Friendly Fire
Three American F-15 fighter jets were shot down over Kuwait in what the U.S. officials described as a “friendly fire incident”. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday. Consequently, officials said that all six crew members were ejected safely and recovered without any life-threatening injuries, even as the broader conflict with Iran intensified across the region.

CENTCOM stated that the aircraft were “mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses” while flying in support of Operation Epic Fury. The command added that “all six aircrew ejected safely, have been safely recovered, and are in stable condition”. The fighter jets crashed inside the Kuwaiti territory during a wave of Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drone attacks. Meanwhile, U.S. and allied forces have been actively working to intercept the incoming aerial threats across the region.
Kuwait’s defense ministry confirmed on social media that several American warplanes had come down. They also confirmed that authorities had immediately launched a search and rescue effort. A spokesperson noted that crews were transferred to hospitals for medical checks and were in stable condition. Furthermore, Kuwaiti officials said that they coordinated directly with the U.S. forces and initiated joint technical measures to determine the cause of the incident.
Escalation of U.S.-Israel Strikes and Iran Retaliation
The downing occurred on the third day of a joint U.S.-Israeli offensive against Iran. Israel has dubbed the campaign Operation Roaring Lion, while Washington refers to its role as Operation Epic Fury. On Saturday, the United States and Israel launched the strikes amid the increasing tensions with Tehran. Shortly afterward, Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks that targeted Israel and several Gulf states, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
U.S. Central Command also confirmed that four American service members have been killed since hostilities began. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the fatalities occurred when an incoming munition struck a tactical operations center in Kuwait. Meanwhile, the Iranian Red Crescent also reported that 555 people have died inside Iran.
Death of Iran’s Supreme Leader and Interim Leadership Updates
In a dramatic development, joint strikes reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. President Trump announced his death on Saturday, and wrote on his Social Media that, “Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead”. He added that, “This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans”.
Subsequently, Iranian state television Press TV reported that an interim leadership council will now have President Masoud Pezeshkian, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, and judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i. Nevertheless, President Trump said that the military operation will continue “until all of our objectives are achieved”, and he suggested that the campaign could last several weeks.
