The warning comes after Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) raised concerns about Iranian state-linked cyber activity. According to the centre, Iranian hackers have used the CHOSEN BRICK spyware tool in spear-phishing campaigns. Attackers reportedly targeted people through platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram, using deceptive messages to obtain access to emails, messages and other sensitive information. Together, the physical and cyber threats have added to Britain’s wider security concerns over Iran-linked activity.
UK’s Balanced Military and Diplomatic Approach to the Iran War
Britain did not join the initial US-Israeli offensive strikes on Iran, choosing instead to prioritise diplomacy and a negotiated solution. However, after Iran launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks, the UK provided defensive military support. British Typhoon and F-35 aircraft took part in defensive operations to protect British citizens, military facilities and regional allies.
